Morris suggests that the source of TR’s aggression was his parents, and the Civil war and how he wanted the Union to crush the Confederates. Although he did not use it for bad reasons, he still liked to be on top just like many of the industrialists at the time. TR was shaped by the era that he lived in in the sense that he craved attention and like his power. If it were not for his intellectual capabilities he would not have had all those opportunities in his lifetime. His long list of achievements from writing a four-volume history, to being a big game collector for the Smithsonian, and being the President of the United States shows he was a well-rounded man. Roosevelt was the second of four children born into a socially prominent family of Dutch and English ancestry his father, Theodore Roosevelt, Sr., was a noted businessman and philanthropist, and his mother, Martha Bulloch of Georgia, came from a wealthy, slave-owning plantation family. My impression of his intellectual capabilities is that he was very smart and clearly loved to think. As I said before, he was complex and had more to him than exuberance and charm. He laughed a lot and was quite humorous with a big toothy grin. His sweet nature was what made that possible. Even his adversaries thought he was good company.

He was very electric and was able to energize anyone that spent time with him, and he was not hard to spend time with. Theodore Roosevelt’s response to these and oth er reform issues was an important turning poin t concerning the role of presidential power.

He had a presence to him and in that sense, was a powerful man. Theodore Roosevelt (TR) was a very complex man with many different sides to him.
